Attend a Workshop
We offer workshops on everything from optional practical training to how to renew your visa.
Have an Adventure
Come to our yearly Getty Center excursion, Universal Studios trip, International Student Picnic and more! We host many fun events, and you are always invited.
We can pair you with an international peer advisor or fellow UCR student to meet with on a regular basis through our Global Connections Partner Program. Enjoy fun, friendship, and a mutual exchange of language and culture. Partners are picked based on shared interests and set up their own meeting schedule. New partners are matched each quarter. Everyone comes together for group events such as bowling, hiking to the “C” and potluck celebrations.
Look for information on how to apply for the Global Connections Partner Program in our weekly emails.
For Partners and Families
The International Spouse and Partners Program (ISPP) is a free program created especially for women, both international and American. Make new friends, discover new places in Riverside, and experience new ideas and cultures. Students, spouses and children are welcome. Past activities include picnicking at the UCR Botanic Gardens, making cards on Mother's Day and enjoying cultural dance presentations.
See our calendar for the ISPP meeting schedule.
Talk, Learn, Discuss, Share
International Discussion Group
Join our informal weekly international discussion groups and discuss everything from local and world news to hot university issues and group interests. Previous topics include stereotypes, wedding traditions, language acquisition and studying for finals.
Look for the International Discussion Group meeting schedule in our weekly emails (or see our calendar).
Meet Your American Family
Even if your family of origin is thousands of miles away, you have an American family to call your own. Not a homestay program, Friendship Families are UCR faculty and staff families that can provide you with a local support system and a chance to meet up once a month for activities. Your family might make you dinner, take you sightseeing, celebrate your birthday or more.
Look for information on how to apply for the Friendship Family Program in our weekly emails.

Be a Leader
As an international peer advisor (IPA), you serve as a valuable resource for international students, gain team-building skills and learn about other cultures. Our IPAs assist with new student outreach, international student orientation, trips and tours, and a variety of social and cultural activities throughout the year. All students are encouraged to apply (domestic and international, undergraduate and graduate)!
Look for information from our office about IPA applications in the winter quarter.
