Students with the desire to go abroad should consider five main things:
For what reason do I want to go abroad (study, work, volunteer)?
Where do I want to go?
How long do I want to be abroad for?
How will I finance my stay abroad?
What skills do I have to contribute to my stay abroad (language, etc.)?
There are several steps you must take in order to participate in EAP:
Step 1: Attend an info session at the IEC office.
Step 2: Research programs and choose one that is right for you.
Step 3: Attend a one on one application workshop with an advisor.
Step 4: Attend mandatory meetings.
Step 5: Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork.

Once you have been selected for participation, there will be a lot of preparation necessary during the months prior to your departure. Such preparation will play a large role in the quality of your study abroad experience. IEC recognizes the importance of providing UCR students with the support and resources necessary to prepare for the voyage abroad, but keep in mind that it is your responsibility to research your country, keep up to date on current events, attend all meetings, and complete necessary documents.
