Transferring your F-1 to another University

I am planning to transfer to another University.  What do I need to do?

If you are planning to transfer to another University, you must have your SEVIS record (your electronic I-20 record) released from UCR to the University that you plan to attend.

Can I have my SEVIS record released to more than one school?

No, you must make a decision about the school that you wish to attend first and then request to have your record released.   We can only release your SEVIS record to one school.

I have been admitted to another school and would like to transfer out.  What do I need to do to have my record released to the school I would like to attend?

Please complete our Transfer Out Form and submit it to our office with a Letter of Admission from the school that you plan to attend.  This Form is available on the Forms Section of this website.
